5 Velcro — Burrs on a Dog Walk
Swiss engineer George de Mestral noticed burrs stuck to his dog fur after a walk. Under a microscope, he saw tiny hooks gripping loops of fabric. He spent 8 years replicating this mechanism, eventually creating Velcro in 1955.
